Does Royal Caribbean require a passport?
In most cases, yes, Royal Caribbean does require a passport for their cruises. However, there are some exceptions for certain closed-loop cruises, where the cruise starts and ends in the same U.S. port. Here, U.S. citizens can use a government-issued photo ID and certified birth certificate instead. But, keep in mind, traveling without a passport can limit your ability to disembark in some ports or fly to meet the ship should you miss the initial boarding. So, while it might not always be mandatory, it's generally recommended to cruise with a passport.
